Is Impulsive Behavior Getting You In Trouble?

Friday April 18, 2008

Are you someone who tends to take action without thinking through the consequences? Do hasty decisions often get you into trouble? Do you often act based on your feelings in the moment rather than on a long-term plan? You may be struggling with impulsive behavior, one of the symptoms of BPD.

Impulsivity is a tendency to act quickly without thinking about the consequences of your actions, and it most often occurs when you are having a strong emotional reaction to something or someone. Unfortunately, problems with impulsive behavior can be particularly troubling because they can destroy relationships, impact your physical health, or even get you arrested. Learning more about impulsive behaviors and how to get them under control can help to reduce their impact on your life.
