Dissociative Identity Disorder and BPD

Tuesday October 28, 2008

Have you heard of dissociative identity disorder, or DID? Few people are familiar with DID; it is a rare psychological condition that can co-occur with borderline personality disorder (perhaps because a history of childhood abuse increases the risk for both disorders).

If you're interested in learning more about what it's like to have both DID and borderline personality disorder, check out the Secret Shadows blog. Secret Shadows is written by a woman who has been diagnosed with DID and BPD. This blog delivers a particularly nuanced and sophisticated look inside the experience of someone with DID and BPD-- it is well worth a read!
