Forums
Welcome to the discussion forum on borderline personality disorder.
Although your Guide is available to answer questions and queries, using the forum will be more beneficial since your message will reach a greater number of people. As a result, a large number of people can contribute to or benefit from the discussions. Feel free to use this forum to ask questions, express your opinion, and spread relevant information.
Please remember, you can refer users to relevant sites, but advertisements are not allowed. Your BPD Guide will visit the forum regularly and will contribute to (and moderate) all discussions.
FAQ
- Q. Do I have to register to use the forums?A. You can enter as a guest and read posts, but you must register before you can post or answer a post that's already there. Registering is quick, simple, and free. Please join us.
- Q. Are there any types of posts that are prohibited here?A. We will delete any spam or commercial posts. Please do not post to sell something or involve anyone in a money-making proposition. Flames or rude / insensitive remarks will be removed. Users who are disruptive may be gagged at the Guide's discretion.
- Q. May I promote my product or Web site here?A. As with most places on the Internet, you may make your URL part of your "signature" by typing it under your name at the end of your posts, but please do not place commercial posts on the forum. They will be considered spam and be deleted.
- Q. Can I get medical advice on this forum?A. This forum is a place to exchange information about BPD and get support. It is not meant as a forum for medical advice or psychological treatment, and any post containing this type of content will be deleted. If you are looking for treatment for BPD, there are resources available to guide your search.
- Q. Can I talk about my trauma history here?A. Posts containing disclosure of details about traumatic events are prohibited in this forum and will be deleted. These types of posts can be very upsetting for other readers. The BPD Guide is legally bound to report any information related to abuse and/or neglect of an elderly person, a child, or a disabled person, even if the abuse happened in the past.
- Q. Can I talk about self-harm or self-injury here?A. Sharing specific or graphic details about self-harm behaviors is prohibited because this content can upset or trigger other readers. However, because this forum is meant as a place where people with BPD can find support, general reference to self-harm is acceptable. The BPD Guide reserves the right to use her clinical judgment in determining whether a post is too specific in its description of self-harm and must be deleted.
- Q. Can I talk about suicide here?A. Suicidality is common in BPD, and it is likely that some of the forum users have suicidal thoughts. But, if you are having a mental health emergency (e.g., you are at immediate risk of harming yourself or someone else), do not post on this forum. Instead, you should immediately call 911 (if you are in the U.S. or Canada) or go to an emergency room. Posts that threaten or encourage suicide are prohibited.
